My Dear Friend,
The Fall and harvest is a time of Thanksgiving around the world. In the United States, today is Thanksgiving Day. So I want to personally wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! As you spend this day, perhaps with family or friends, enjoy the feeling of Gratitude of this season and the many blessings in your life.
As we all know, there are many people less fortunate than us. And even for many of you receiving this message life may be very challenging right now. So on this day of giving thanks, I would like to offer a little secret I have learned about Gratitude and how it can help smooth the bumps in life.
Most people face challenges at different times in their life. Around the world there have very recently been fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, terrorist activities and warfare. And these challenges are happening along with the usual issues in life such as health, relationship, finances and aging.
The events in life often challenge our beliefs, our minds and our Hearts.
They also offer a time of discovering very important aspect of our Being. These events help us to notice our Core Beliefs about who we are and what we expect from life, our Inner Strength to move through difficult times, a deeper Guidance to assist us each day and our Higher Knowing of the Truths of Life.
The challenges in life offer the opportunity to discover that deep inside, in our Core, sometimes much to our surprise, we are still solid and somehow, OK. We may discover that, even though we may not like what has happened in our life, we know we will move through it to the other side.
As we grow in Consciousness, it may sometimes seem the challenges we face seem bigger or more difficult. And yet, they are just right for each of us and the next step we are preparing to take internally.
Each challenge offers us a choice of how we will respond. Will we choose to expand or to contract. This choice is a day by day and moment by moment decision. If your choice is to expand and move through more rapidly, then a focus on Gratitude can help.
I receive emails and have read comments from people who are facing many very difficult challenges. Some have moved rapidly into Gratitude for what they still have and are already taking the first steps in what they call their "New Life" Others are still challenged by the sudden changes and feeling lost, frightened, abandoned and angry.
Both are steps on this amazing journey called life.
There is a time initially to feel the loss, grief or anger. The challenge is to keep the mind from its habit of going over and over the upset and thereby prolonging its impact.
A good way to step beyond this mental habit is to find something to feel Gratitude about. It can be something very simple or basic, like the fact you are still alive and this mysterious journey of life continues. I have read comments from people who lost everything in the recent fires in California who have chosen to take that amazing step in Gratitude and healing.
Gratitude is a game changer, a healing salve to the body and Soul and an opportunity to step to a higher level.
Gratitude can help the body and emotions heal more rapidly. It can also help to reduce stress and calm the mind so important decisions can be made and a new path in life created.
So as you go through your Thanksgiving Day and then on through the times ahead, it is helpful to remember the many blessings in your life. Consider choosing to carry Gratitude in your Heart as your friend and life companion.
I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a life filled with Gratitude!
With deep, deep love,
